Qui Sommes-Nous?
The Rural Electrification Agency (AER) is a public establishment of a technical nature, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. The Agency ensures the promotion and development of rural electrification throughout the national territory. It is responsible, in liaison with the administrations, public and private organizations concerned, of contributing to the development and implementation of Government policy in the field of rural electrification in Cameroon. As such, the Agency's missions are: In terms of promoting rural electrification:
To collect information relating to various investment opportunities in the field of rural electrification and disseminate it to interested circles, in particular:
Decentralized local authorities;
Private operators and investors;
Donors and funding agencies;
Administrations concerned or interested in rural electrification.
To participate in the popularization of rural electrification from any energy source;
To propose all measures to attract investors in the field of rural electrification in Cameroon;
Develop mechanisms for community management and maintenance of electrification installations in rural areas;
To supervise rural communities benefiting from electrification installations in rural areas and operators in their management and maintenance;
In terms of developing rural electrification:
To assist the State in the development of rural electrification plans and projects, in liaison with the competent Administrations;
To support Decentralized Territorial Communities in the development of rural electrification plans and projects;
To set up a project database available to the investors concerned;
To carry out surveys and studies leading to economically applicable technical solutions in rural areas in compliance with approved standards and norms;
To build electricity production and distribution works in rural areas;
To operate all electrification centers using solar photovoltaic systems.
